Capital Area Transit System

The mission of the Human Services Department is to offer an array of services through its various offices, initiatives, and collaborative networks in accordance with community needs.

***Rides must be scheduled in advance.***

Calcasieu Public Transit has nine buses, which are all equipped with liftgates for easy wheelchair accessibility.

Transit services are available in Rural and Urban areas of Calcasieu Parish.

Services are offered to those who are elderly, disabled, and the general public.

There is a service fee for each ride. Transit office hours are 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. Monday-Friday. Buses run 5 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Saturday.

A curb-to-curb transportation service for passengers who are unable to use fixed bus routes due to a disability.

WE ARE AN ADVERTING SOURCE FOR PEOPLE BUYING AND SELLING THEIR ADAPTIVE EQUIPMENT.

Through the GM Mobility Reimbursement Program, new vehicle purchasers/lessees who install eligible adaptive mobility equipment on their new Chevrolet, Buick or GMC vehicles can receive up to a $1,000 reimbursement for the cost of the equipment.

The City of Lake Charles Para-Transit Service offers a special mode of transportation to disabled people who meet federal eligibility guidelines. Call one day in advance.

Lionheart Transportation offers wheelchair accessible transportation and prescription delivery.

Reservations must be made in advance by calling your insurance company first. If you do not have insurance, they offer inexpensive out of pocket costs.
